Have you had bad experiences in the traditional mental health space? Have you been disrespected, ignored, or unseen? Did you feel like you had too many questions that went unasked and unanswered, that you were being hurried, and that you walked away feeling unsure and apprehensive about the treatment that was allotted to you? Are you worn out by waiting weeks or months for your appointment, having medications go without refills, or never hearing back when you have an urgent question? I know firsthand through thousands of hours of direct patient care just what people want: a provider who cares, takes time, and is available.
Seeking psychiatric care for the first time can be scary only because we don't know that it can do so much good. It's human nature to be anxious about the unknown! I am deliberate about making you feel safe and confident. Sometimes we are worried about stigma, but only because people don't understand all the ways that we can suffer and that it is not our fault. No one tries to suffer! It is my mission to make you see that you are the product of your environment and your genetics and to help you take any blame off of yourself but then, to help you harness your personal power and equip you with the skills and tools to lift you to where you want to be: connected, balanced, and purpose driven.
Well-being is the ultimate goal of our work together. Wellbeing is satisfaction with your life. It is quality relationships, positive emotions and resilience, and the realization of your potential. Our journey is wellness as a verb defined as “the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal.” Our work is to continuously refine your emotions, perceptions, thoughts, and behaviors to get closer and closer to your personal state of wellbeing. I will be honored to walk with you on your journey. My life’s work is to make sure that my light is bright enough for both of us at the time when yours is flickering or dim.
